Holley introduces the Two Barrel EFI system as a solution for those hot rodders out there that want to make the EFI switch but they want to keep the intake manifold that their current Holley series carb is bolted to. It should be noted that Holley also offers adapters for those who want to keep their 4bbl intake manifold and swap this 2bbl style system onto it.

We think this is a brilliant idea and it eliminates a cost for those people who have been thinking about making the switch. Holley has provided a load of information below and a video that walks through the entire system. This is neat stuff! Priced to provide all the benefits of EFI and save you money to finish or upgrade any other aspect of your ride, it easily adapts to a square-flange or Quadrajet-flange 4-barrel intake with the addition of a Mr.

Gasket adapter partor MRG. The two-barrel Sniper EFI system easily accommodates up to horsepower, and with the throttle-body-mounted ECU, there are no extra boxes to mount and absolutely no fabrication required. A calibration wizard takes care of everything, and no laptop is required — just answer a few questions about your engine, and the calibration wizard creates the base map and starts tuning on its own.

The two-barrel Sniper EFI system puts an end to cold-start issues, hesitation, vapor lock, and flooding. I think this is great! Lots of cool cars out there with a straight or V6 could easily use this along with the V8 crowd. If not I suppose you could use an adapter plate. Love the idea but have a question. On my initial try, it ran for a few seconds and died. On subsequent attempts it started backfiring in all directions; out the exhaust, through the throttle body, and through the crankcase, sending my PCV valve and breather cap into orbit.

When I stop cranking, it will run for a second and just stumble out. If I try to give it some throttle while cranking, the stumbles and backfires persist. I have followed and verified the installation and setup instructions for the dual sync distributor.

Pulled 1 plug to verify I was on the compression stroke. Plug did not appear to be wet. I have three pink wires distributor adapter, coil driver and the pink from the 7-pin going to 12V ignition, and a separate 12V ignition going to the coil. The white wire on the pin goes to the white wire of the coil driver, black from coil driver is directly attached to the battery. The initial setup screen on the display checks out OK. When cranking it takes a second to sync with the distributor and an RPM signal is seen on the display.


I have a Walbro in-tank fuel pump with the recommended Holley fuel filter in place. The fuel feed is on the drivers side, the return is coming out of the regulated side of the throttle body unit.

I removed an MSD mechanical distributor, was thinking about swapping that back in, but it looks like I'd need to rewire the Accel 6A box back inline for that to work. Well thats also not a problem. Most of our programed kits can be installed in a few hours without a big wiring mess. There are only two sensors to mount, 1x AFR o2 sensor and 1x Oil temp. Does it run rich at idle or are you having driving issues? If it's at idle, I would suggest tuning your mixture with a vacuum gauge. That's how Holley told me to do it and it made a big difference. If it's rich while you're driving, that's when you look at jetting.

Keep in mind that a VW air cooled engine will last longer if it's a bit on the rich side. Lean carb mixtures are not good for them because they normally run quite a bit hotter than a water cooled engine.

What color are the center insulators on the spark plugs? If they are black, then yes, that's too rich, but if they're medium brown to dark brown, then I'd be inclined to leave it as it is.

Air-Cooled VWs require a few special installation changes.

Oxygen Sensor: Install 02 sensor within 36" of an exhaust port. We recommend welding the 02 bung to your exhaust. Intake: The RADesigns four barrel intakes have 2" ends. Please note the intake may require trimming to fit your engine.

If your intake does not have a support location you may need to make a small support bracket from flat steel. Please note these are a tight fit near the alternator.
