It would be hard to accept that with the more expensive TVs we all have now though. I would definitely want to do whatever I could to fix, rather than replace my TV.

Disconnect all external devices connected to the TV.I was in the middle of watching a YouTube video when half of the screen went dim and then the TV powered itself off.

When I try to turn it back on I got a series of 6 blinking red LEDs that would repeat for a while and then turn off.

I tried some of the things online that I found to try to do a reset, but those did not seem to work. It looks like this might be a backlight issue, fingers crossed. Has anyone here had this issue before and if so were you able to fix it?

If you were able to fix it what did you have to do? I got it to boot to the homescreen after leaving it unplugged for a couple hours. From Googling, it looks like the power supply board can't handle the voltage throughput that the backlights are needing for the brightness I had it set to. Since the XC needs the brightness turned down so that it doesn't fail, it works perfect as a bedroom television.

In the future if it fails again I'll try ordering and replacing the power supply board and see if that takes care of the issue. As a side note, I contacted a few television repair folks and they all said the same thing. I think this is bad news. This exact same thing happened to me a few weeks ago on the same model. This problem you described was after the mainboard was replaced by Geek Squad. TV was fine for a couple weeks, then one morning it only got to the Android logo when you could clearly see half the screen darken, it then shut off and the red light began blinking.

Unfortunately I had the exact same thing as well. But the fade from one side and no restarting is exactly the same. Yeah, I had the option of 3 different LG models but that's it.

I would have thought they would have given you cash.
